The power of love
How often do you evaluate your level of contentment? I don’t mean how we try to convince ourselves that we’re content, but actually taking the time to sift through all the layers of life that press down on us while organizing all the good and bad, to the point of seeing the good outweighing the bad. There’s always going to be negativities in our lives, and they pop up out of nowhere, like a kink in the neck from sleeping crooked after having a most excellent night before it, and an important day in front of it. Reminders of our fragile, imperfect state are always ever present, but giving all of our attention to them only reduces the ability to ever be joyful and content. So now I have this kink in my neck and it’s Thanksgiving day, and a conscious decision has to be made to either overcome the pain or give in to it, and not only ruin my day but everyone else’s that has to be around me. We have so much more strength to endure hardship than we make ourselves believe, and the fact is, like children, we want to inadvertently make others suffer while we suffer, and somehow think that we are gaining something by doing so. Holidays tend to be a time where underlying contentious problems are commonly ignored, while acting like we’ve forgiven when really forgiveness isn’t even a thought. Why do we waste the most precious thing we have on earth…TIME! Every holiday can be the last holiday we have, and that should be the thought that motivates us to do what we are really unwilling to do, with those we are supposed to love, but have unresolved issues with that are ignored, and don’t have to be, they can be resolved! When believers are unwilling to practice reconciliation, it’s a true testament of the condition of the heart, and extremely problematic to our relationship with the Trinity of God. Loving someone doesn’t necessarily mean we have to like them, but loving someone revolves around forgiveness, reconciliation, and unity. It’s a great day to repetitively read 1 Corinthians 13, and be powerfully reminded of the love that makes life worth living. Father, cause me to love better, by the power of Your love that created and sustains me! In Christ’s name, Amen
